Hiatus II: Over!

Filed under: History — Hillridge @ 9:07 am

I’ll update with new pictures tonight.  I’ve been doing a lot of work the past couple weeks and have some parts coming in today (gaskets, oil filter, etc.) that should allow me to fire up the engine again.

Welcome and History

I’d like to think of this more as a way for me to keep a record of what I’ve done while working toward restoring my ‘70 TR6 than as a blog.

My Wife and I bought the TR6 from her parents in the fall of 2007 and had it (and a skunk living in it) shipped to NH from VA. They were looking to get rid of it to reclaim garage space, and I was looking for a project car, so it worked out pretty good. I’m planning on doing as much work as my resources and capabilities allow, which means that while I would love to do a body off frame restoration, our single car garage just doesn’t provide the space for it. Luckily, the frame is in good shape and I’m content with doing a rolling restoration. I’m hoping this means that less cans of worms will be opened, and that I’ll be driving it while it’s still a work in progress (after some initial work is done).

The first few posts will probably be re-writes of some mini-projects I previously documented. I’ll be doing a lot more work now that the weather is warming up, which will hopefully mean lots of updates.

Here’s the lo-res photos taken for the classifieds when it was decided that the car was to be sold:

As you can see, it’s not in too rough of shape (on the outside anyway). Most of the cosmetic work needed is on the interior (you’ll see “Before” photos next). I’m not too sure of its history prior to my ownership, other than my Wife’s parents, and I know they were not the original owners. One of these days I’ll look into it.
